Claim CA640:

Evolution says you are descended from a monkey. Do you want to be descended from a monkey?

Moon, Rev. Sun Myung. 1976 (7 Mar.). The central figure and the transitional period.

  1. What we want does not determine what is. To believe that reality will bend to our wishes is a form of hubris.

  2. What is wrong with being related to a monkey? In Yoruba tradition, it is believed that twins are descended directly from monkeys, and twins are considered good fortune (Courlander 1996, 233-238). Being related to a monkey does not make you a monkey. It does not make you any different from what you are.

  1. Courlander, Harold. 1996. A Treasury of African Folklore, New York: Marlowe & Co.
