Claim CF001.4:

The second law of thermodynamics allows higher order (lower entropy) to appear locally, but it still disallows organized complexity. For example, it allows highly ordered arrangements such as "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa . . ." to originate, but not complex ordered arrangements such as the words on this page.

Response:

  1. The second law of thermodynamics is about spontaneous heat flow or, more generally, about the impossibility to perform useful work indefinitely. The twists put on it by creationists, including "organized complexity," are entirely fictional.

Arrangements such as the words on this page are not prohibited by any laws of physics. If they were, they could not exist for you to be reading them now.

  2. Complex ordered arrangements can and do arise naturally.
